Skills catalog
The skills catalog is where you decide which techniques and skills your club can track. For each discipline you define a catalog of skills -- the foundation that lets coaches assess individual members' progress later.
Navigate to Settings > Skills to manage your catalog. Assessing members happens on the member profile -- see Skills tracking.
Creating a skill
Each skill belongs to a discipline and has:
- a name (e.g. "Armbar from guard"),
- an optional description with details or notes,
- a proficiency type (see below),
- a sequence within the discipline.
Proficiency types
When you create a skill, you choose how it is assessed:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Graded | A multi-level scale: introduced, practicing, proficient, advanced. Best for techniques a member improves step by step. |
| Binary | A simple yes/no (completed). Best for things like "Knows the competition rules" or "Has a first-aid certificate". |
Grouping with tags
Skills can optionally be tagged to group and filter them (e.g. "Throws", "Ground game"). Tags are deliberately lightweight and impose no fixed hierarchy -- assign them freely to suit your discipline.
Belt associations
Associating skills with specific belt levels is not managed here -- it will be handled from the belt settings (in a future iteration). The skills catalog itself stays usable independently of the belt ladders.
