Omoplata Bridge

Send direct debits with the Bridge

With Omoplata Bridge you send your SEPA files to your bank directly from your computer - without downloading an XML file and uploading it again in your online banking. You can start in Omoplata or right in the Bridge. This guide follows Jana of Nordlicht Kampfsport as she sends a file with ten direct debits.

From the click in Omoplata to the approval in the banking app.

What you need

  • The Bridge is connected to your club and logged in at your bank - see Configure the Bridge.
  • There is a SEPA file with the status Pending in Omoplata - see Process SEPA direct debits.
  • The Bridge is open on your computer. A closed window is enough: it keeps running in the menu bar.
  • Your TAN device is at hand.

Your bank details stay on your computer

Omoplata only sends the Bridge a notification - you send the file yourself, from your computer. Username, PIN and TAN go only to your bank and never to Omoplata. Omoplata learns only whether the file was sent.

Two ways to the same dialog

WayHow you startFits when
From OmoplataClick Send to … in the SEPA file. Omoplata notifies the Bridge, and the Bridge opens the send dialog.you have just created the file in Omoplata.
Directly in the BridgeClick Send next to the file in the Bridge under Direct debits.the Bridge is open anyway or has pointed you to a new file.

In both cases you send the file in the Bridge and approve it with your TAN method.

1. Start in Omoplata

  1. In Omoplata, open Finance > SEPA Files and click the file.
  2. Click Send to … - the button names the computer your Bridge runs on, for example Send to Büro-Mac. If several Bridges are open, you choose one in the next step.
  3. Omoplata reports Request sent and shortly afterwards Open in the Bridge. The Bridge comes to the front on your computer and shows the send dialog.
One click in Omoplata, and the Bridge opens the send dialog.

Up to here nothing has reached the bank: Omoplata has only told the Bridge which file you want to send.

No button to send?

In its place Omoplata shows what is missing:

  • Omoplata Bridge is not open - open the Bridge on your computer. The button appears as soon as it is connected.
  • Omoplata Bridge is not set up - connect the Bridge to your club first, see Configure the Bridge.
  • No bank login for this account - the Bridge is connected, but not yet logged in at the bank for the account of this file. Set that up in the Bridge under Settings › Bank connections.

2. Send and approve in the Bridge

  1. Check the details in the Send direct debits dialog: creditor IBAN, number of direct debits, collection date and amount. With Show all … debits you see each one.
  2. Click Send to the bank now. With that you send the file from your computer straight to your bank.
  3. Approve the order with your TAN method - in your banking app, or by typing in the TAN.
  4. The Bridge reports Sent to the bank.
Check, send, approve in the banking app - and Omoplata follows.

Omoplata follows by itself: the file changes to Uploaded, with the note sent … · Omoplata Bridge, and its invoices are set to Sent to bank. You do not have to set the status by hand.

You closed the window before you approved? That cancels nothing. The file is listed in the Bridge under Direct debits with Awaiting approval; with Continue you carry on. You can cancel in the dialog - then nothing is collected, and the file can be sent again.

Send directly in the Bridge

You do not have to open Omoplata. Under Direct debits the Bridge shows your club's SEPA files, per billing entity and bank account.

  1. Click Send next to the file with the status Ready to send.
  2. Go on as above: check, Send to the bank now, approve.
The same dialog, straight from the list in the Bridge.

The Bridge points you to new files: next to its icon in the menu bar you see how many files are waiting to be sent, and for a newly created file you get a notification on your computer. A click on it opens the send dialog.

When something does not go smoothly

  • The bank rejects the file: The Bridge shows what the bank's message means - for example an exceeded limit for direct debits. The file stays Pending; once it is corrected you can send it again.
  • Being sent with “…”: Someone is sending the file from another computer right now. Until then it is locked, so that it never reaches the bank twice.
  • Result unknown: The file was transmitted to the bank, but the answer did not arrive, for instance because the internet connection dropped. Do not send it again. Click Check at the bank or check in your online banking whether the order is there, and then resolve the file in Omoplata.

A file is sent only once

Once a file is at the bank, the Bridge does not offer it for sending again. Only set a sent file back to Pending in Omoplata if you are sure the bank has not executed it - otherwise your members are charged twice.
